Thank you! - A look back at March
Today we have another inspiring blog article from the lovely Anneleen. She shares with us her journey to self-love and how important it is for self-healing. In her review of March, she talks about her father’s birthday and how important gratitude has become in her life. Thank you for your great words, Anneleen. I hope you enjoy reading and internalizing your gratitude.
I really like March because spring is starting to show itself.
Energy and confidence. Nothing is more beautiful for me than to enjoy the first warming rays of sunshine on the terrace or an outdoor bench, to be awakened in the morning by the birds’ powerful singing, and to discover the first early bloomers in the garden. For me, it is a small miracle every time nature awakens again from its winter sleep. This reliability that after every cold and dark winter, spring comes again, bringing with it light, warmth and color, makes me grateful and happy.
An 80th birthday
This year there was another special highlight in March: My father turned 80. On his birthday on March 13, it is sometimes spring-like warm, sometimes winter-like cold, but spring is definitely already in sight!
On the occasion of his birthday, I asked him to continue writing about his childhood and youth, so that I can better tell my children and grandchildren about him later. For this purpose, we looked at old photos together and selected them for his text. That gave me a lot of pleasure.
A positive attitude
In his childhood and youth during and after the war, there were always times of fear and loss, yet he remembers mostly the positive and funny moments. I know him mainly as a calm, friendly and cheerful person. And I admire that very much! I believe that I got a piece of this basic attitude and this positive energy from him. I am very grateful for that!
In any case, the round birthday was very nice for everyone. Even though my father had to be celebrated digitally by the rest of the family, he still enjoyed every single contribution and congratulations on his birthday. I was also very blessed about it and had a lot of fun creating a little movie for him in advance.
Gratitude
This energy has filled and accompanied me the last few days. During my meditations I have felt deep gratitude for life and for my parents who gave it to me. A life that is not always easy and bright like spring, but still so worth living.
I have since learned to accept life as it is. The cold, dark, unpleasant and challenging times are part of it. We can grow from them and that is what we should be grateful for. Developing acceptance and gratitude for everything in life is a very calming and liberating experience for me. Just thinking about it makes me start to breathe in deeper, feel my heart and exhale with relief. In the meantime, like my father, I can enjoy the many small moments in life and feel gratitude, whether it’s a cup of coffee in the afternoon or the birds singing in the garden in the morning. Before I get up, I think about what I’m grateful for every time, and I notice that it becomes more and more. Gratitude is something we can actually learn and practice and it is very rewarding. Therefore, I would like to invite you to pause every day, to be aware of everything and to realize that there are so many things in life for which we can be truly grateful.
All the best for your,
Anneleen
